Abstract:Objective To study the single nucleotide polymorphisms of 2497 in eotaxin-3 and its association with asthma susceptibility,total IgE level and eosinophil count in adult population of the Han nationality from Hubei province of China.Methods Polymerase chain reaction-single strand conformation polymorphism and tetra-primer polymerase chain reaction were used to identify the single nucleotide polymorphisms.Results The frequencies of eotaxin-3 2497 G allele between asthma group and control group were significantly different(P value:0.011).The total levels of plasma IgE and peripheral eosinophil counts between TT and TG genotypes in asthma group were significantly different and the P values were 0.021 and 0.029 respectively.Conclusion Polymorphism of eotaxin-3 2497 is associated with the susceptibility of asthma,peripheral eosinophil counts and total levels of plasma IgE.
