Abstract:Objective To investigate the distribution and variety of 8 kinds ofeffluxmediated disinfectant and antiseptic genes(qacE△1,emrE/Pa, E1/Pa,qacE/Pa, smr2, qacE, tehA, oqxA) as well as metcuric reductase (merA) gene in multi-drug resistant strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa(P.aeruginosa). Methods From January to December 2009, 20 strains of multidrug resistant P.aeruginos a isolated from sputum and wound secretion were collected from the hospitalized patients. Eight kinds of effluxmediated disinfectant and antiseptic genes as well as metcuric reductase gene were analyzed by PCR and verified by DNA sequencing.tehA gene were searched in 4 selected bacteria: Escherichia coli, Shigella, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Acinetobacter from the database of microbiology (www.biocyc.org). Results In 20 strains of P.aeruginosa, 11 strains(55.0%),1 strains(5.0%), 1 strains(5.0%), 11 strains(55.0%)were verified to carry 4 genes: qacE△1, emrE, tehA and merA, respectively. In the 12 strains 1 or more than 1 gene were detectabe. The other 5 genes were undetectable.tehA gene could be searched in Escherichia coli and Shigella from the database of www.biocyc.org, but it was unsearchable in Pseudomonas aeruginosa (strain PAO1 and PA14) and Acinetobacter in the database. Conclusion Most of Pseudomonas aeruginosa were resistant to disinfectants and antiseptics. It was the first report for detectable 8 effluxmediated disinfectant and antiseptic genes as well as metcuric reductase gene in China, and tehA gene was detectable in Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
