Abstract:Abstract: Objective:To explore the correlation between the polymorphism of TRIB1 gene rs2235108 and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), T2DM combined with coronary heart disease (CHD) in Han population of Northern China. Methods:Genotypes of TRIB1 gene rs2235108 polymorphisms and the distribution frequency of allele in 147 healthy individuals, 96 patients with T2DM and 75 patients with T2DM combined CHD were detected by polymerase chain reactionrestriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP). The correlations between the polymorphism of T2DM gene, rs2235108 and T2DM, T2DM combined CHD were analyzed. Results:Genotypic frequencies of CC, CT and TT of TRIB1 gene rs2235108 were 81.8%, 17.3% and 0.9%, and the frequencies of C and T alleles were 90.4% and 9.6%, respectively. There were significant differences in the genotype and allele frequencies of TRIB1 gene rs2235108 between Han population of Northern China and the populations from other regions or races. However, there was no significant difference of genotype and allele frequencies of rs2235108 among the T2DM patients, T2DM patients combined with CHD and healthy controls (P>0.05). Likewise, there was no statistical difference of serum lipids, glucose and HbA1c levels among the 3 groups. Logistic regression analysis showed that age, HDL-C level and history of high blood pressure were the risk factors of T2DM combined with CHD. Conclusion:The polymorphisms of TRIB1 gene rs2235108 were not obviously correlated with T2DM combined with CHD, thus it should not be the independent risk factor of T2DM combined with CHD in Han population of Northern China.
